WK 30 Lightning Crashes

By Live

There was a pretty impressive lightning storm in the Toronto area tonight, so, after a few shots from the front of the house, Jess and I decided to head down to Lake Ontario to get some keepers.

These are amazing!! The shadow cast in shot #3 is wild.

Awesome Babe. I agree with Monique and think #3 might be my fav but I also love the mood in #6. Great job.

Dude, you are in Pickering? I'm living in Whitby & working in Toronto...

What'cha been up to (like, for the last 10 years)? Last time I saw you was when I crashed your wedding on new years... fucking classy!

BTW, yes, great storm the other night & good pics.

Wicked!!
Gimme da scoop. How tricky is it to photograph lightning? What do I have to do? Besides the obvious fun of running outside during a lightning storm.

Actually, it's not as hard as it may seem... Set camera to Bulb mode (if you have it), Mirror up, remote release (cable or IR) and some luck with your timing... These were the most usable shots from about and hour and a half of shooting.

Well I have no clue what "bulb mode" is but it gives me an excuse to read through my manual again. I'll have to look into getting a remote for my camera. Do IR remotes work if you're standing behind your camera?
I suppose continues shooting mode my help too.
